Special Valentine’s Day Music: Jason Okamoto w/Sophia Rose
A self-taught musician and composer based in Portland, Jason combines elements of bossa nova, flamenco, and French gypsy jazz using primarily classical (nylon string) guitar and a looping station. His music is richly textured and sensual, evoking scenes of archaic old cities – the cafe music you might hear strolling through Buenos Aires, Paris or Sao Paolo.
Jason is also an award-winning experimental documentary filmmaker who composes his own soundtracks.
His rich musical history includes being a founding member of Portland’s early idiosyncratic country indie rock band, The Flatirons.
For this special Valentine’s Day performance, Jason will be joined by songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Sophia Rose, a classically-trained vocalist with an indie folk heart.
